This year’s winners were celebrated and commemorated during a gala dinner ceremony at the Waldorf Hilton in London, hosted by yours truly, on Wednesday, 7th November 2018.

The awards celebrate the best in life and health insurance innovation from around the world and act as a benchmark for excellence.

The awards celebrate the best in life and health insurance innovation from around the world and act as a benchmark for excellence.

There were 12 highly contested award categories this year and Personality of the Year was won by Johnny Timpson from Scottish Widows.

Other winners included Aditya Birla Health Insurance who won Digital Innovation of the Year – Insurers for the 2nd year running while Digital Innovation of the Year – Technology Firms went to Intellect SEEC.

Zurich won the most awards, a high number of two, and they were Best Business Transformation and The Diversity Award. The fact that only one firm won more than one award shows the diverse range of firms stepping up their game in the last year.

Anorak was the winner in the Most Innovative Life/Health Insurance Firm category.

Most Innovative Protection Insurance Intermediary and Most Innovative Back Office Service Provider categories went to London and Country & iPipeline respectively. LifeSearch, AIG and The British Friendly Society also claimed awards on the night.

The awards this year have shown a clear dedication from the insurance industry to improve itself. Digital has made a huge impact this year, with AI and big data utilised in many of the winning nominations. Firms embracing change have been rewarded with greater customer engagement, improved annual results, and more.

Not only have multiple firms improved their digital offerings, but offerings elsewhere in terms of culture. This can be clearly seen in our winner of The Diversity Award, Zurich, and our Personality of the Year. Both of these showed the importance of diversity and inclusion and how it has actually helped the firms and are a credit to the industry.
